Supporting people in pregnancy, during childbirth and postnatally
In 2018 I completed the Nurturing Birth doula training course and I am now a registered Birth Doula with Doula UK. After many years of working as an NCT teacher, a Maternity Care Assistant and a pre- and post-natal yoga instructor I have a wealth of experience in supporting people throughout pregnancy, at the actual birth and in the newborn bubble. I have a sound understanding of the physiology of birth and am passionate about helping women, birthing people and their families achieve a joyful and empowering experience, in hospital or at home.
As your Birth Doula I will meet with you at least two or three times antenatally to discuss your preferences and practise ways of maximising your chances of achieving them. You can call or message me with any questions or concerns throughout, and I will then be on call for your birth, 24/7, usually from 38 weeks of pregnancy. I will be with you during labour as soon as you need me and until after your baby is born. A postnatal visit to reflect on the birth completes the Birth Doula arrangement.
My Birth Doula package is £950 to include all of the above, as well as a Mother Blessing ceremony if you'd like me to host one for you. I encourage doula clients to come to Yoga and offer a 50% discount on Pregnancy Yoga and Couples' Yoga Birth Workshops.
Postnatal Doula services are available to Birth Doula clients. As your Postnatal Doula I aim to give you the emotional and practical support you need during the transition to parenthood - offering help and support with baby care such as breast/chest or bottle feeding, nappies including reusables and baby-wearing as well as light housekeeping duties.
I recognise that every family's situation is unique so please contact me to discuss your requirements. I am particularly keen to meet the needs of LGBT+ families, and recognise that I have limited experience of working with these groups - so in return for feedback on my role I would like to offer a discount to you if you are a member of the LGBT+ community.
"I feel so lucky to have had you with us. Thank you so much for being there... I know it took the pressure off Pete to remember all the different ways to support me in labour. It also helped us make important decisions leading up to the birth of our son... Best decision ever to have you as our doula." Jess, Stroud
