Supporting women in pregnancy, during childbirth and postnatally
In 2018 I completed the Nurturing Birth doula training course, with Florence Etienne Jackson. After many years of working with women in pregnancy and postnatally I feel I have much to offer to women during the actual birth of their baby/ies and in the newborn period. I have a sound understanding of the physiology of birth and a desire to help women and their birth partners achieve a joyful and empowering experience.
As a Birth Doula I will meet with you at least twice antenatally to discuss your preferences and practise ways of maximising your chances of achieving them. You can call or email me with any questions or concerns throughout, and I will then be on call for you, 24/7, from 38 weeks of pregnancy and will be with you during labour as soon as you need me. A postnatal visit to reflect on the birth - or have a shower or nap whilst I mind the baby - completes the Birth Doula arrangement.
As your Postnatal Doula I aim to 'mother the mother' by giving the emotional and practical support you need during the transition to parenthood - whether it's your first baby or your fifth! A minimum of 20 hours would be booked, usually in two-three hour blocks over one or two weeks, either in the initial period after the baby has arrived or perhaps once your partner has returned to work.
I recognise that every mother's situation is unique so please contact me to discuss your requirements.
"I feel so lucky to have had you with us. Thank you so much for being there... I know it took the pressure off Pete to remember all the different ways to support me in labour. It also helped us make important decisions leading up to the birth of our son... Best decision ever to have you as our doula.' Jess, Stroud
